Gorgeous Maternity Session at UNC | Chapel Hill Maternity Photographer

I am SO excited to blog about this gorgeous maternity session with Melody and Chris! They met as students at UNC and have been married for 10 years, and desired to take photos at their alma mater. I LOVED that they chose a location that was meaningful to them because it shows a part of their family story! :) We also included their adorable Italian Greyhound, Tebow, in the shoot (yes, he’s named after Tim Tebow!) and he did such a great job during the session!

We started off the shoot by taking photos by the Old Well, one of the most iconic spots at UNC. We then took photos in front of the South Building and then at McCorkle Place. Both spots made absolutely stunning backdrops, and I personally loved how the brick added an academic and historical look to their photos! Another fun spot we took photos at was at Davie Bench, also known as the “Kissing Bench.” The legend is that if a couple kisses on that bench, they’ll get married! The funny thing was that Melody and Chris haven’t kissed on that bench before, but we thought it would still be fun to do it since they are married! :)

We then ended our shoot on Franklin Street, and took photos in front of the Carolina Coffee Shop (a place where they would frequently go as students!) and also took a couple of photos of them walking on Franklin. It was truly a meaningful and sweet way to end the session! Enjoy some of my favorite photos below, and I can’t wait to meet their baby girl!!

Susan + Andrew | Haw River Ballroom Wedding

I had the honor of capturing Susan and Andrew’s wedding this summer at the beautiful Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw! I met Susan and Andrew through the BSF Raleigh Young Adult’s Class, and they have grown to be sweet friends to my husband and me. They are truly a sweet and joyful couple, and have a great sense of fun (as you’ll see in the photos below!).

I remember the forecast kept going back and forth between rain and sunshine till the day of the wedding. Fortunately, most of the rain stayed away once we started capturing photos! One of the most touching moments that day was when Susan and Andrew prayed together before the ceremony. Y’all, it was seriously SO beautiful, tender, and touching that I started to get tears in my eyes when they were praying!

Another fun and special aspect of the wedding was the reception. The wedding party surprised all the guests by doing the YMCA on the stage, and it was super AWESOME, so well coordinated, and the crowd went wild! Also, they had the coolest and most unique alternative to a bouquet toss and garter toss; they did a BEAR TOSS. Yes, you hear that right! A bear toss! Susan tossed a UNC teddy bear and Andrew tossed a NC State teddy bear (those were their alma maters), and the crowd absolutely LOVED it!

There were SO many more beautiful and awesome moments, and I wish I could share them all with you! Below are just some of my favorites that capture the joy and excitement of the day! Congrats again, Susan and Andrew, and may God bless your marriage!

Charlotte + John-Michael | Wedding at Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral

I had the wonderful honor of capturing Charlotte and John-Michael’s wedding last month! They are a cheerful and laid-back couple, and met at NC State University. They will be moving to Seattle (my hometown!) soon after the wedding because Charlotte will begin her Bioengineering graduate program at the University of Washington (my alma mater!).

There were so many sweet and tender moments throughout the day, and one of my favorites was documenting Charlotte and John-Michael praying together before the ceremony instead of doing a first look. The chapel they prayed in was absolutely beautiful, quiet, and peaceful, and was truly the perfect place to have a moment together! Another favorite moment of mine was taking group photos after the ceremony. We did an impromptu photo with all of their friends from NC State and doing the Wolfpack sign! It was such a fun photo to do!

We then headed to The Royal Banquet and Conference Center for the reception, and it was a lovely venue! The toasts from the wedding party were hilarious, and the dancing was incredible! For the sendoff, they decided to use bubbles. One of my favorite photos is one showing a bubble hovering right above Charlotte’s hand, and her expression is priceless!

Enjoy some of my favorite photos below, and BIG congrats to Charlotte and John-Michael!!!
