Romantic Wedding at The Cotton Room | Durham Wedding Photographer

2019 is seriously flying by—I can’t believe we’re more than half way through February! I’m a bit behind on blogging due to the number of shoots I had in December and January, so hopefully I can catch up the next few weeks! With that being said, I’m SO excited to share Roy and Tiffany’s wedding with you guys! They had a beautiful winter wedding at The Cotton Room in December, and I can’t wait to share some of my favorite highlights from their special day!

First of all, I was so impressed this couple built their own wedding arch for the ceremony!!! I honestly thought it was part of the rental at the venue, but I learned they built and designed everything themselves! My jaw literally dropped in awe when I saw it! You have to take a look for yourself below! In addition, the DETAILS and decor were so romantic, chic, and elegant. From the ring box, to the programs, to the signs, to the wedding cake and donuts, to the chocolate wedding favors, to SO much more—it was all so thoughtfully done!

Second, I remember the weather was rainy and chilly, so we didn’t have a chance to get shots outside. However, the venue was so beautifully decorated (and the big windows gave us a lot of natural light!), it didn’t stop us from getting gorgeous photos of the First Looks and portraits inside! When I captured the First Looks, I won’t forget how sweet and tender the moment was between Roy and Tiffany. When they were reading their letters to each other, let’s just say by the end I had tears in my eyes, too! I had to keep blinking back the tears so I could see through the camera and not miss the shot!

Lastly, it was truly their love for one another that was so moving. They have such a deep, genuine love for each other and for the Lord, and it was beautiful to see how God brought them together (read their story here!). I loved how they gave praise and glory to the Lord as they sang, “In Christ Alone,” for worship during the ceremony! After an amazing ceremony, reception, and dancing, we had an epic sendoff! When they came out, flower petals were thrown in the air and there was SO much energy, excitement, and cheering! There was a ton of joy and love in the air, and I absolutely loved how happy they both looked!

Gosh, there were so many other awesome moments throughout the day…I’ll let the photos speak for themselves! :) Enjoy scrolling through some highlights below!

Celebrating a UNC Graduate | Hillsborough Family Photographer

Graduation parties are SO much fun, and such a wonderful accomplishment to celebrate with family! I had the honor to take some family photos for this UNC grad, Griffin. It was such a lively party with lots of bbq, children, and love! Griffin is the fourth of FIVE kids, the only BOY, and the fourth one to graduate from UNC! He also is the uncle to five ADORABLE nephews and nieces. I learned he is also close to his grandma, and was so happy to capture a sweet portrait of the two of them outside on the porch. Enjoy scrolling through some of my favorites!!

Catwalk to Camp Fundraiser for Autism Society of NC | Raleigh Event Photographer

Did you know 1 in 57 eight-year-old schoolchildren in North Carolina may be diagnosed with autism? I had the honor to take photos for the Autism Society of North Carolina (ASNC) for their annual "Catwalk to Camp" fundraiser benefitting the Camp Royall scholarship fund. Camp Royall is the nation’s largest and longest operating autism specific camp, and offer recreational, therapeutic, and educational programming to more than 3,000 children and adults each year!

Before we kicked off the evening, we took a group picture of all the participants who were modeling in the fashion show. The models were past campers with autism, their loved ones, and ASNC staff. I remember one of the campers eagerly came up to me and said "it's really good to meet you!" and kept vigorously shaking my hand because he was so happy and excited! I then took a photo of him and his mother (see second photo) as well as photos for each family, and you can truly see the joy in their faces!

After the group photos, it was time for the event to begin. Renee Chou from WRAL kicked off the night and did a fantastic job emceeing the fashion show and the event. Then it came time for the key note speaker, Temple Grandin, one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People. Besides having a Ph.D, being a professor, writing books, and more, she is one of the most prominent spokespersons for autism. She shared her story and attribute a lot of her successes to her mom, who was a huge advocate for Temple and was the one to seek help for her. It was inspiring to say the least, and you can read more about her here. The Live Auction then took place and the auctioneer, Ben Farrell, did an outstanding job!! By the end of the evening, the ASNC raised over $170,000 for Catwalk to Camp!!

Below are some of the highlights from the evening, and you can visit this link to see the full gallery. Enjoy!
