Even though we are in a crazy time in history and living through a pandemic, love is still in the air! I had the honor of capturing a sweet SURPRISE PROPOSAL for Chris and Alyssa a few weeks ago at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham. Chris got in touch with me about a month before the proposal, and I enjoyed learning more about him and Alyssa as well as hearing his plan for the proposal! They met in college and then moved to NC for Alyssa’s grad school program. They enjoy spending time around the American Tobacco Campus, hence he thought it would be a good place to propose. They talked about getting engaged after she finishes grad school in the spring, but Chris decided to propose a few months early to catch her by surprise (and he sure did!).

Before the actual shoot, Chris and I had a detailed game plan as to where they’ll walk and where I’ll be standing, and the plan went wonderfully. As they were approaching the spot, he spent a brief moment talking before he got down on one knee. I LOVED Alyssa’s expression as he was getting down on his knee—the shock and joy on her face was priceless!! :)

After he proposed, we walked around the ATC to capture engagement photos, and it was SO fun seeing the both of them interacting and laughing with each other! Their connection and love was so evident, and I was absolutely honored to be able to document this special season of life. Chris and Alyssa, thank you for entrusting me to capture this sweet and vulnerable moment, and congrats again on your engagement!!

I had the honor of photographing a newborn session for this lovely family in February, and I’m SO thankful that we got to do this before COVID-19 hit NC! I met Bill and Christine at a Triangle Area Parenting Support event in the fall, and I was so excited when they contacted me to do a newborn session. They welcomed a baby girl, Sophia, and she was absolutely precious!

We captured photos in the master bedroom first, and I absolutely loved the portraits where Bill and Christine were standing next to the window. The joy on Bill and Christine’s faces were so sweet and loving as they were holding Sophia! I love seeing how they cradled their baby girl in their arms :) We also captured photos in the nursery, and I LOVED the elephant theme! Lastly, we ended the shoot in the living room and they wanted to capture a family photo with their dogs. The dogs were SO happy to be included in the photos, and kept wagging their tails when we were capturing the memories!

I had the honor of capturing Makayla and Conner’s GORGEOUS winter wedding in January! The ceremony took place at Emmaus Baptist Church in Pittsboro, and there were SO many sweet and tender moments throughout the day. One beautiful moment that stood out to me was when Makayla finished getting ready, and her mom went over to her to hold her hands, say a few words, and hug her (Makayla is the youngest of four siblings!). It is always touching to capture organic moments like this of a mama and her baby girl! I also loved capturing Makayla and Conner praying together before the ceremony. I remember it was such a sweet and raw moment for the both of them trying to hold back tears, but also smiling at the same time because of their excitement!

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful, and the portraits we captured afterwards were also amazing. I’m a huge fan of backlighting, so I was stoked to see clear skies and a beautiful sunset when I captured portraits of just Makayla and Conner! I seriously couldn’t stop taking photos cuz the lighting was absolute perfection! Once we finished, we headed to the reception at Pittsboro Roadhouse. One of the highlights for me was documenting Makayla and Conner’s first dance. They choreographed their dance, and it was seriously like watching Dancing with the Stars (it included a flip!). When the reception ended, we finished with an epic sparkler sendoff. The joy on their faces (as well as the guests!) was absolutely priceless! I also loved how Makayla and Conner took time to look at each of their guests to thank them as they passed by!
