The Parker Family | Raleigh Family Photographer

I love fall because of the gorgeous colors, cooler temperature, AND it’s the season where you get to wear cute and cozy outfits! I recently had the honor of capturing family photos for the Parker family, and my goodness, they looked absolutely STUNNING with their navy and red color scheme (I especially LOVED Ashley’s red sweater—it added a touch of warmth and vibrancy to their photos!).

I remember when I chatted with Ashley before the session, she expressed her desire to do family photos each year because as a mom, she rarely gets to be in pictures. Also, her boys are at such a fun age and she wanted to capture this moment in time! She wanted to photograph the sweet spirit of her children because they won’t always be this little. Who else can resonate with that? It’s so true and this time is so fleeting!

We had such blast during the session despite the weather being a tad windy. We took photos during the golden hour, right before the sun was setting, and the beautiful light gave a nice warm glow to their photos! In addition, one of the things that stood out to me during their photo shoot was the way their oldest son interacted with his younger brother. He was SO gentle, kind, and patient towards his younger brother! We were all doing a variety of things to get his little brother to smile, and he was so eager to help. He certainly did help us capture some adorable smiles! :)

Enjoy getting to know this family and scrolling through some of my favorites!

Fall Photos at Umstead Park | Raleigh Family Photographer

I had the honor of photographing the Phillips family again, this time at Umstead Park in Raleigh! A little fun fact about this family—I met Chris and Claire when my husband and I did our premarital counseling through the Summit Church, and they were our mentor couple! We’ve known them for a little over two years now, and they truly are one of the most down-to-earth, candid, and open people we know.

Taking family photos with three kids can be a handful, but these kids were AWESOME! One of my favorite moments was when we captured photos of each child holding up a number that has their age on it! It took a bit of coaxing with the youngest child to participate, but once his parents mentioned ice cream, his face instantly lit up and we were able to capture a smile from him :) The shoot ended with a big cheer from everyone, and it is probably my favorite photo of them because it truly captures their energy and spunk! Enjoy scrolling through the highlights!

Summer and Francesco | Durham Photographer

It’s so awesome when you get a client who can resonate with your work! Summer reached out to me to do a family photo shoot with her husband at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham. I remember chatting with her and learning that she’d like a casual photo shoot of the two of them that felt warm and intimate, but not make it feel like an engagement shoot. I also learned of their beautiful story! They met in a masters program in New York City in 2007, and became classmates and friends. They then reconnected in Chicago where Francesco was living in 2015 and Summer was visiting her brothers. Francesco went out to meet them, and well, the rest was history!

On the day of our shoot, we got a variety of shots around the Tobacco Campus. One of my favorite places was using the sidewalk that’s right outside the campus because it had a very Durham feel to it; the brick building in the background and the street gave their photo a mix of vintage and urban. I also LOVED using the brick wall and windows right outside the Power Plant! Their connection was so sweet and genuine, and they had the best smiles and laughs! There were SO many epic shots, and below are some highlights. Enjoy the photos and getting to know this wonderful couple!
