When Karmann contacted me to do an extended family session, I was so thrilled! Extended family sessions are perfect if you want to include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. to your shoot, and/or do a variety of locations. Documenting multiple generations is not something a lot of families do anymore, and making it happen is extra special. Oh, and did I mention we were able to capture grandparents from BOTH sides of the family?! Talk about an extra, EXTRA special session!

One of my favorite parts of the session was when we took photos out by the fields. We were recreating a photo they did a few years ago, with everyone staggered in different positions. I asked them to give me their best "vogue" pose, and they totally knocked it out of the park! In addition, we took a variety of portraits in the fields, and the golden hour lighting was STUNNING. Every single photo was absolutely gorgeous, but most of all, it was their connection and love for one another that made it even more beautiful. Enjoy the photos!

All I can say is WOW! This family in Durham totally ROCKED their lifestyle family photography session last month! I remember when Sammar contacted me, she told me she wanted to capture genuine and natural photos of their 6 month old and the energy of their family. As she was describing her goals for the shoot over the phone, I was so excited because I could feel her energy as she was talking and her vision fit right in line with my style!

When I arrived, I could tell right away we were going to have so much fun. Baby Zane was ALL smiles and LOVED the camera! He couldn't take his eyes away from me! His eyes were bright and curious, and he was so cheerful during the whole family photo shoot (you can see for yourself by scrolling down!). It also helped that Sammar and Kyle were just as happy and excited as Zane! They made my job so easy!

The Simmons are also a well-traveled family, and I loved hearing about their adventures around the world before they had Zane. There was a beautiful wooden sign in Zane's room that said, "Oh the places you'll go..." and it was such a meaningful and sweet touch for his nursery. Hopefully this baby will have the same love as they do for traveling and exploring the world!

Enjoy the photos below and getting to know this joyful family!

Fall is the peak of holiday family photos, and as a Raleigh family photographer, I am SO excited to share some of the beautiful family photos I've been taking this season! The smiles and connection from this adorable family were so precious! I remember it was a chilly day and there were a TON of people at Umstead Park. Despite the crowds, we were able to snag some scenic areas to take family photos. We took photos around the wooded area as well as by the lake...and I'm telling you, the LIGHT was absolutely stunning! If you know me, you know that finding the BEST light is so important to me.

During the shoot, we started out with some family portraits, and then I had Jennifer and Craig take a few photos of just the two of them together (p.s., I always like to do photos of just mom and dad in every family session!). Their interaction with one other was so cute, and I LOVED Jennifer's giggle when Craig snuggled in close to her! :)

We also took lots of photos of their children, and they were all so adorable! Their sweet girls were so kind, and their baby brother was such a comedian. Towards the end of our session, we were taking individual portraits of each child, and their little brother, James, kept making his "Thor" face! It was hilarious, cute, and sweet all at the same time!

Enjoy these beautiful family photos!
