A Joyful Maternity Session | Raleigh Newborn Photographer

As a Raleigh maternity photographer, one of my favorite things to document is the joy, excitement, and anticipation during a maternity shoot! Waiting for the arrival of your baby is filled with SO much emotion, and capturing this special time is worth everything. The shoot was so sweet from beginning to end, and I loved it when their dog, Burger, joined in on the photos! My favorite photo is the one with all their hands (and paws!) touching Erica’s baby bump :) Enjoy the special maternity photos below and stay tuned for Baby C!

A Special Note on Safety and COVID-19:

To help ensure a safe shoot for clients, I wear masks for all sessions and do my best to maintain proper social distance. If you are considering a maternity and/or newborn session, I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to contact me and I can provide you with more details about how I’m handling safety during COVID-19.

Family is Everything | Raleigh Maternity Photographer

I had the BEST time taking family and maternity photos for Jo at Umstead Park! This was such a special shoot because I learned that her mom, aunt, and grandma (who was visiting from the Philippines!) would be visiting the Durham area to visit her during her pregnancy. She wanted to capture photos of all of them together during this special time, and I was SO honored to photograph them!

Even though it was fall, the weather that day was still a bit warm and humid! Fortunately, we had our shoot in the morning when it was a little cooler, and we were able to capture some BEAUTIFUL photos. What I loved most about these women was how much they would laugh, joke, and tease each other! Their laughter was full and hearty, and I could tell the strong bond they have with one another!

One of my favorite moments was capturing them all hugging and laughing together. I personally love photographing hugs and laughter because it truly captures real, genuine emotion! I also loved the photo of Jo giving her aunt a high-five!! They actually high-fived each other right after they took their portraits together, and I asked them to do it again! I thought it was such a great reflection of their personalities and relationship with one another :)

Enjoy scrolling through my favorites below, and I can’t wait for baby M to arrive in December!!

The Prenshaw Family is Growing! | Hillsborough Maternity Photographer

I recently had the honor of taking maternity photos for the Prenshaw family, and it truly was a joy capturing this sweet moment in time for them! When I chatted with Carley over the phone, I remember her telling me she didn’t want to look like a fairy in her maternity photos (think flowy dress, flower crown, and bare belly), but wanted to capture photos of her and Eric that looked genuine and natural. I was thrilled to hear she also loved a natural, authentic style, and hope that encourages any mamas out there that you do not have to bare your belly or wear a crown to make it a maternity photo! Whichever photography style you prefer, go with the style that makes you comfortable and feels the most like YOU!

So back to the shoot, the day of our session was BEAUTIFUL! We captured photos during the golden hour and took photos at the scenic Hillsborough Riverwalk. Carley and Eric were so excited for their photo shoot, they even practiced some poses beforehand! I thought that was so sweet and cute! :) We started our session by taking photos with the famous twig sculpture, which was an artwork they love. If you haven’t seen it yourself, please do consider checking it out—it is truly an amazing piece of work made up of ALL twigs! We continued our session by taking photos on the different pathways, by the river, and on the bridges. One of my favorite spots was taking photos by the river. The light coming down was like from HEAVEN! It was incredibly pretty and illuminated them perfectly!

Most of all, I loved how HAPPY and relaxed they were during the shoot! It honestly made my job so easy to photograph them! I loved every minute of this sweet maternity session and can’t wait to photograph their baby girl once she arrives! Enjoy the photos!
