I recently had the pleasure of taking photos for the de Jong family again! They are expecting their third child (another boy!) this summer, and I was SO honored to be able to capture this season of life for them before they become a family of five!

We took photos at their beautiful home, and it was so sweet and meaningful! As the parents were finishing getting ready, I followed the boys to the backyard to capture some candids of them interacting. The older brother LOVED showing his younger brother around, and it was so endearing! I especially loved the moment when he held his brother’s hand to help guide him around :) Another memorable moment was when the kids wanted to play in their dad’s car. I was so inspired by their excitement, silliness, and imagination and wanted to capture their laughter and smiling faces! I totally embrace organic and spontaneous moments during photo shoots, and love documenting kids being kids :)

We then spent the rest of the photo shoot in the playroom. I learned this family has a love for music (as do I!) and it was so sweet seeing Eelco reading a book to his oldest son. One of the books played music from Vivaldi, and my favorite moment was when his son started conducting when the music came on! The expression on his face was absolutely priceless!! We then finished the rest of the shoot with family snuggles, snacking on graham crackers, and knocking down blocks! :)

I had such a wonderful time capturing photos for the Woodbeck family! If I could describe this family in a few words, they were super cheerful, silly, and energetic; getting them to smile and laugh was no problem! :) We took photos at the iconic American Tobacco Campus in Durham, and it was the perfect place to capture some modern, urban photos of this family.

One memorable aspect of this shoot was when we would be getting ready to take a photo, Stephanie (the mom), would subconsciously point her toes! It was so funny, but it makes sense because she is a local dance teacher in Hillsborough! Her two daughters are also dancers, and it was so cute having them show me their different dance moves during the session! The kids also LOVED tickling each other, and I remember the older daughter kept asking if they could tickle each other again during the session. My favorite moment was when they were tickling their dad; I asked them to give him a kiss on the cheek and they showered him with a ton of kisses! Capturing that sweet moment was priceless.

When it was time to wrap up the shoot, I saw a beautiful brick wall. I was immediately inspired by the reddish-orange color because I felt like the bright color was a great way to symbolize the passion and spirit of the Woodbeck family! I showed them where to stand and then asked them to strike a pose in front of it, and they TOTALLY nailed it!!! Siblings are truly one of the greatest gifts in life—there’s no other person who really knows you like your brother or sister! I recently had the wonderful opportunity to photograph the Janson siblings. The youngest, Makayla, got in touch with me and I learned they wanted to gift their parents with a photo of all of them. Getting all four of the siblings together was so precious because they live in different cities, and as we all know the older you get, the harder it is to coordinate dates/times with people!

The day of our shoot was a bit chilly, but I was SO glad the sun was shining! We had a morning shoot at the NC Museum of Art, and we had so much fun taking photos together. They had AMAZING energy during our session and were full of joy and smiles. They were also so genuine and silly with their interactions with each other! I also learned the two oldest, Elise and Kyle, are TWINS (see first photo below: the twins are the two siblings who are standing in the middle!). I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter group of people to work with, and I hope you enjoy scrolling through my favorites!
