A Precious Time Together | Durham Family Photographer

I had a delightful time capturing family photos for the Adams family last month! This family was SO warm and welcoming, and there were so many wonderful highlights from this shoot. I captured a variety of groupings for the family, and the first one was a portrait of the grandparents, also known as Pop and Baba in the family! Baba has some mobility issues due to multiple sclerosis, and I thought it was incredibly touching to see Pop helping his wife walk towards the patio chairs for the shoot. Their love for one another was so sweet!

I also loved capturing the brother and sister shot of Steve and Robin (the adult children of Pop and Baba). Steve has down syndrome, and it was endearing to see his sister holding his hand during most of the shoot to help him feel comfortable! We also took a more candid style approach to get some genuine smiles. We had a fun conversation with Steve about what they’ll be doing later in the day, which was Pizza Friday!

One other memorable part of the shoot was capturing photos of their 17-year-old yorkie, Winston! He was so teeny tiny, and incredibly adorable and full of love! Even though he was blind and deaf, he showed so much affection for his owner, Becky, and towards the whole family. I loved the photo of him licking Becky’s face! :) Y’all, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, don’t wait to take photos with your family. Life goes by so fast! We can have a safe and socially distanced shoot, and I’ll be wearing a mask and refrain from contact. Please contact me to learn about the precautions I’m taking to ensure a safe shoot!

A Special First Birthday Shoot | Raleigh Family Photographer

First birthdays are such a special milestone! Last month I had the honor of photographing the Daniels family again, and it was EXACTLY on Baby H’s first birthday! We had SO much fun capturing lots of snuggles and smiles, and there were so many cute moments. I love how Baby H would start laughing when his dad, Mitch, would start making a deep, hearty laugh (that’s how we got a lot of these smiles!). I also loved capturing photos of Baby H waving his hand to say hi or bye! I remember my niece doing the same thing around this age, and it’s seriously the CUTEST thing! We also incorporated the blue sweater that Kirah knitted, and also included his stuffed Hobbes in the shoot (you may recall seeing them at their maternity shoot and newborn shoot). I love it when families incorporate special items into the shoot! It makes the photos even more meaningful.

Enjoy scrolling through my favorite highlights below, and happy birthday again to Baby H!

A Fun Outdoor Family Shoot | Durham Family Photographer

I had the wonderful opportunity to document photos of the Carvalho family, and we took photos bright and early at 7:15am! During the summers, I often recommend to families to take photos in the morning. As most of you know, the summers here in North Carolina can get VERY hot and humid, and morning sessions offer a more comfortable experience! It’s cooler and less sticky, which means you’ll look less sweaty in photos and kids are usually happier!

We had SO much fun taking photos at one of their favorite parks, Johnston Mill Nature Preserve in the Chapel Hill-Durham area. It was my first time there and it was beautiful! The morning mist was so pretty and soft, and it felt so serene and peaceful. We had so much fun capturing photos of the whole family by the water, trails, and bridges. One of my favorite moments was when mom and dad were playing with baby C, and he was SO fascinated by his mom’s tongue! I quickly captured a photo of them sticking out their tongues, and it was priceless! By the end of the shoot, baby C was getting sleepy and tired, and it was adorable to see dad carrying him back :) Enjoy the highlights below!
