Twin Boys is Double the Fun! | Seattle Family Photographer

I had the honor of photographing portraits of my cousin’s family during my recent visit to Seattle, and we had so much fun! We took pictures at the University of Washington (one of the most beautiful college campuses!) and it was PERFECT timing because the leaves were turning colors and beginning to fall.

We started off on Memorial Way and it’s one of my favorite spots to take photos because of the gorgeous backdrop. The light was soft and warm, and the beautiful crisp leaves were perfect for throwing! After capturing a couple of group portraits of the family, it was time for tossing the leaves in the air. And wow, the results were A-MAZING!!! The happiness captured on the kids’ faces was absolutely priceless! See for yourself below!

We also documented individual portraits of the twins and they were incredibly funny, silly, and oh so adorable! I love capturing multiple expressions when it comes to children photography because kids are so animated, uninhibited, and carefree. The twins had SO much energy and excitement, and it absolutely came through in the photos!

Childhood is so fleeting and capturing this moment in time is so, so precious. I still remember when they were born and just how little they were…and now they are running around, asking lots of questions, and have such an enthusiasm and curiosity for the world! How did they grow up so fast?!

All this to say, I hope y’all enjoy the highlights below!

A Sweet Pregnancy Announcement and Family Session | Rougemont Family Photographer

Did you know as a family photographer, I’m often one of the first people who know about a special announcement, such as a pregnancy? It truly is an honor to be given this type of personal and exciting news, and I’m always humbled by how much families open up to me!

I recently had the honor of photographing pregnancy announcement photos for the Cassell family. Elaina made a cute chalkboard sign that said, “I’m leveling up to Big Brother, April 2019,” which I thought was SO fun and creative! I learned her husband is a professional gamer, so it was fitting for the sign to say, “leveling up,” right? We captured announcement photos of their family together as well as photos of her son holding the chalkboard, and it was seriously the cutest thing EVER! Baby R was such happy and smiley boy, and was incredibly adorable in front of the camera.

We also captured a lot of lifestyle and candid portraits of them as a family of three! They live on a beautiful farm and we had so much fun playing in the open field during golden hour. Baby R is a HUGE lover of the outdoors and nature (just like his parents!), and they are a family who loves to rescue animals! It was such a treat being able to capture some photos with their dog, horses (Gunner and Sunny), and their miniature horse. In addition, Elaina is a horse trainer and had Gunner since she was 14! Gunner was such a sweet horse and also LOVES the camera. During our shoot, he walked up to the pregnancy announcement sign and posed for me (seriously, see below!).

Lastly, another memorable part of the session was the 130 year old oak tree in their front yard! It was incredible and HUGE, and I wanted to incorporate it somehow into the shoot. So, I had them next to it and interacted with one another because I wanted to play on the idea of a family tree! :)

American Tobacco Campus Family Session | Durham Family Photographer

I had so much fun taking urban family portraits for the Yeh family! They used to live in Durham AND lived just a few doors down from my husband when they were here!! All this to say, they've been dear friends of ours and we miss having them close by. When Jenny contacted me that they would be visiting, I was SO thrilled...when she also asked if I'd be interested to take their family portraits in Durham, I was even MORE excited and so honored!!

I remember Jenny sharing with me that she wanted to have some vivid, crisp images of their family, and simply showing them having fun together. I thought it was so touching when she mentioned that it's because their kids won't be like this forever; they grow up and change so much, and it's important to get family photos at least once a year (which I TOTALLY agree!).

The day of their session was definitely a classic, hot summer day! We originally scheduled it for a sunset session, but we had thunderstorms in Durham so we moved it to the following morning. Thankfully, the storm stopped by then, and we were greeted with cloudy skies and super humid weather. However, the Yeh's were AMAZING during the shoot despite the crazy humidity, and were so photogenic in front of the camera!! We had so much fun laughing, hugging, dancing, and eating gummy bears during the shoot!!

I'm so grateful that I have the privilege of capturing this special season of life for the Yeh family. I'm so thankful God has placed them in our lives, and can't wait to see how their beautiful family grows! Enjoy getting to know this family through their incredible family session!!
