Beautiful Sunset Family Session at the Farm | Rougemont Family Photographer

It was an incredible honor taking photos for the Cacchio family on their BEAUTIFUL farm in Rougemont, NC! I remember when I arrived, I felt like I stepped into a dream. The sunset light was perfect, and we had a ton of space for pretty backdrops!

There were so many sweet and fun moments from the shoot. One of the things that stood out to me was how friendly this family was including the animals on their farm! When I was capturing the family interacting together, their dog, Boots, would automatically follow along and I thought it was so natural and sweet! I loved it when he also started licking Megan’s face when I was in the middle of taking their photos, and her expression and laugh was priceless!

I also loved how sweet and friendly their oldest daughter was, and her mom told me that her teachers call her a “bottle of sunshine,” and I could totally see that! They also had a six month old daughter, and she was SO easy going and laid back during the shoot! In addition, I learned that both the mom and her older daughter enjoy riding horses, and I had an opportunity to capture their four month old foal (he’s the brown horse in the photos below!). The sweetest moment was when he gave Megan a kiss! :)

A Casual and Relaxing Maternity Session | Durham Maternity Photographer

I had the honor of capturing maternity photos for Amanda and Jonathan recently at the American Tobacco Campus! I loved how they opted to go for a casual and relaxing look, and they were SO easy going and fun to work with! One of the tips I send clients before a maternity shoot is to consider what you normally wear and what style best represents you! If gauzy gowns and flower crowns are not your thing, that is TOTALLY ok. If you like to keep things casual and simple (like jeans and a cozy sweater), I encourage you to go for that style!

During the shoot, we had so much fun walking around the ATC and catching up (they were formerly neighbors of mine!). Amanda and Jonathan were so natural in front of the camera, and their joy was so evident! Enjoy some of my favorite highlights below, and I can’t wait to capture their newborn session in just a few months!

The Apps Family at Spruce Pine Lodge | Durham Family Photographer

I had so much fun capturing family photos for the Apps family this summer! I met Connie at the TAPS Halloween Costume Party event last year, and I remember her sweet family stood out to me because of their AWESOME and creative costume of “Where’s Waldo?” I remember we hit it off right away and I was so excited when she contacted me for a photo shoot! I truly 100% believe that the relationship you have with your photographer makes a huge difference in how your photos turn out. I remember before and during the shoot, she told me how she trusted my judgment and creative expertise—I seriously am so touched and honored anytime someone tells me that! I truly take it to heart!

For this family shoot, we took photos at the Spruce Pine Lodge in Bahama because that’s where Connie and Lucas got married! I thought that was so sweet and special :) I remember the day of our session was also a bit drizzly, but the rain didn’t stop us at all! The Apps family truly have such a joyful and positive spirit, which made their session fly by!

One of the memorable parts of the shoot was seeing how much their son loved being tossed in the air and playing on the swings. His smile and laughter were so endearing! I especially loved seeing him learning to walk, and how both parents were helping him. I love capturing walking photos because it is a way of capturing the love, guidance, and encouragement from parent to child—it can be so hard to capture, but so precious when it is documented. We ended the shoot by taking photos in front of the lodge, and the funny thing was their son wiggled his way out of their laps and had an impressive army crawl! It was so cute and funny, and he was so FAST! :)
