I had such an AWESOME time capturing maternity photos for Courtney and Chip last month! Their goal was to have some joyful photos of themselves to capture this special time in their lives before their first child arrives. They also wanted to have some non-pajama clad images of themselves, and to have a reminder that doesn't make them think of the pandemic! We took photos outside their beautiful home with their friendly bulldog, Levi, and used their backyard (which had an amazing fig tree!) as well as the front and side of the house as backdrops. It was absolutely perfect, and I truly believe capturing photos at home is one of the most meaningful places to document your memories. I had the honor of capturing newborn photos for the Xu family about a month ago! It was a very special session because they were gearing up to move to the west coast, but still wanted to document this precious season of life at their home in Durham. Baby A was about two months at the time of this session, and was SO adorable! I absolutely LOVED her Durham outfit, and she gave the cutest little smiles! As we ended the shoot in the living room, I had the whole family on the couch including their dogs. One of them started licking Baby A’s feet, and it was so hilarious!

I recently had the honor of capturing maternity photos for my dear friends, Sara and Tom! Funny story, my husband and I met them at a cooking class about 3-4 years ago, and we so happened to sit at the same table with them. As we started chatting, we learned we had SO much in common (we love travel, food, etc.) AND literally live 3 minutes away from each other! By the end of the night, we exchanged numbers and have been friends ever since! I’m still amazed how quickly and naturally we “clicked” and became friends! :)

We took photos at the beautiful Umstead Park in Raleigh, and it is a wonderful and safe spot for photos especially during COVID-19. It’s a clean and spacious park, and you are able to maintain good social distance with other park visitors. During the shoot, we took photos along some beautiful paths, and I loved how natural and relaxed they were in front of the camera! I also thought it was so precious seeing how happy they all looked, including their dog, Lucy! She was so excited and kept wagging her tail and licking their faces! It was adorable on so many levels! :)
