During this crazy time we’re in right now with COVID-19, it has given me a chance to catch up with my blogs (I still have stories to catch up from January, lol!). One of the shoots I had in January was a newborn session for Jo and her beautiful baby boy. There’s nothing more special than documenting a mother’s love for her baby! We started off taking photos in the living room, and I was thrilled for the soft natural light we were getting through the windows. Jo and her son were truly so natural and easy going in front of the camera! We also had an opportunity to take some photos of Jo and her wonderful mom, and it was so precious.

We also took photos in the nursery, which she beautifully designed! One of my favorite moments was when I was capturing the two of them snuggling together, and I was trying to get her baby boy to turn his head towards the light. It was hilarious because every time we would try and angle his head, he would automatically turn it the other away! Jo burst out in laughter, and that’s when I snapped my camera because it was such a funny and genuine moment. Working with babies can be unpredictable, but it’s truly these candid moments that make the best photos :)

I had such a wonderful time taking photos for the Cheely family again! We took pictures at a nearby park, and I was so thankful that it stopped raining just in time! One thing that I thought to be so adorable and memorable from the shoot was how they let their oldest daughter dressed in her favorite Frozen clothing. From her new Frozen earmuffs, to her shirt, skirt, and shoes, everything was Frozen themed! We also got a lot of beautiful candid shots of the whole family interacting with one another, and the joy on their faces were priceless. Enjoy some of my favorite highlights below!

For my first photo shoot of the year, I had the honor of capturing newborn photos for Amanda and Jonathan in their beautiful home! It was such a wonderful way to kick off the new year documenting sweet photos of this growing family :)

Baby Mirabelle was such a delight! She was awake for the first part of the session, and it was adorable seeing how inquisitive and alert she was. It was also sweet seeing her peacefully sleeping in the second half of the shoot! One of my favorite moments was capturing their dog snuggling with all of them on the bed and trying to nuzzle baby M. He was so happy and enthusiastic, and I swear it looked like he was smiling during the shoot—just see below! Another memorable part of the photo shoot was capturing Amanda sitting in the rocking chair that her dad built for her! The craftsmanship was outstanding, and it was truly evident that it was built with love :)

My favorite part of the shoot was simply capturing the love and connection among this family. Whether it was mom kissing her baby or dad nuzzling nose-to-nose with his baby girl, I like to call these touches, “points of connection.” Whether it is head-to-head, nose-to-nose, or hand-to-hand, I wholeheartedly believe these gentle touches truly elevates the depth of love, intimacy, and relationship in a photo!
