I had the sweetest time capturing a surprise proposal for Logan and Liz this spring! When Logan first reached out to me, he shared that they were casual people, and wanted the proposal to feel authentic and intimate. He knew Liz wouldn't want a lot of people around, and they frequently would go on walks around Lake Betz. He knew that doing the most normal and ordinary thing would be when she'd least expect a proposal…and he was totally right!

Logan and I scouted the location beforehand, and we planned where he’ll stand and where I’ll be. The goal was for me to stay far enough so they could enjoy the moment together privately. When the day came, I remember doing my best to blend among the bushes and reeds with a telephoto lens, and waiting for the special moment! When they made their way around the corner to the proposal spot, it was SO sweet to witness. Liz was completely surprised!

Y’all, this lifestyle newborn was absolutely incredible! I had the honor of working with the S family again in Durham as they welcomed their second baby boy :) They are truly one of the most relaxed and chill families I’ve worked with, and every moment was magic. Their oldest son was such a sweet older brother, and I was amazed at how well he followed all my directions (especially for a toddler!). Their dog was also happily involved with the shoot, and even sat next to the baby at one point during the session! Their baby boy was just as amazing, and one of his unique features was his stunning deep blue eyes. Most of all, I loved capturing their love and connection with one another! It was such a JOY to capture this special season of life for the B family! I’ve had the pleasure of photographing them since their first child was born a few years ago, and it’s been so meaningful to document their family as it continues to grow. One of my favorite parts of this lifestyle newborn session was seeing how smitten their son was with his baby sister! He absolutely loved snuggling and kissing his baby sister, and was so happy to have a sibling! :)

We also captured cozy newborn photos throughout their home, including their bedroom, nursery, and living room. The soft natural light was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and created such a warm, relaxed feel for the session. I also loved all the thoughtful details in the nursery, especially a stunning mirror adorned with gold metallic butterflies! I used it to help frame Veronica and Baby S in the center, and it quickly became one of my favorite images from the entire session :)
