Best Wishes to the Pelissero Family | Durham Family Photographer

I will miss the Pelissero family SO much as they move back to Seattle! I’ve worked with them for the past three years and it has been so sweet to see their family grow, and they truly are one of the warmest and kindest families I know. Jennifer contacted me back in May and shared that she and her husband both got a wonderful job opportunity in Seattle…and will be moving at the end of JUNE! They wanted to take some family photos at the American Tobacco Campus to help them remember their time living in Durham and reflect the unique character of the city. Most importantly, they wanted to capture their family in this moment in time, and I was more than honored to do so!

I remember the day of our photo shoot, the forecast was predicting 90% chance rain/thunderstorms, but that didn’t stop us! We were blessed with about 55 minutes of cloudy weather and it only rained lightly for the last five minutes. We started the shoot by taking photos by the famous American Tobacco sign, then proceeded to take individual portraits of each child. Jennifer’s favorite qualities of her children are their eyes and smiles, and I definitely agree! The kids were so fun and natural in front of the camera and truly have the sweetest smiles! :) There were SO many other fun, organic, and playful moments, you’ll just have to scroll down to see!

I am so excited to see what life has in store for the Pelissero family in Seattle. I will dearly miss them, but hope our paths cross again in the future! God bless and best wishes to you, Craig and Jennifer!!

Introducing Baby Clare | Durham Newborn Photographer

I had such a wonderful time taking newborn photos for this sweet family earlier this month! Anna and Adam welcomed their baby girl, Clare, at the end of May. From capturing her cute little yawns to documenting the way they would each interact and hold Clare was priceless! There was so much love and tenderness, and I LOVED every photo that showed them holding and kissing baby Clare. It’s truly these details and moments that you’ll want to remember forever!

A fun fact about our shoot: we spent most of our time in their living room! It’s one of their favorite places to hang out and relax, but the living room also had AWESOME window lighting. I tell people all the time that the light is one of the most important things I look for before shooting because it makes a huge difference in photos! I personally adore window light because it creates a natural, organic look for portraits and is incredibly flattering and soft.

I seriously had so many favorite photos from this session—enjoy scrolling through them and big congrats to the Anna and Adam! So happy for you guys, and enjoy being a family of three!!

The Thorstensen Family | Durham Family Photographer

I absolutely LOVED taking family photos for the Thorstensen’s a couple of weeks ago at the American Tobacco Campus! I loved how Ethan was so cheerful and excited throughout the whole shoot, and I couldn’t get over how much he loved to laugh and smile! :) In addition, we captured photos of him and his dog, Max, and it was SO adorable. Max is 12 years old and was so gentle and sweet, and posed like a champ in front of the camera!

One of my favorite parts of the shoot was taking photos of Ethan playing with bubbles! It was so endearing to see the joy on his face—check it out for yourself below! We were also able to capture some father-and-son and mother-and-son portraits, and there were a lot of hugs and kisses :) I also made sure to incorporate a couple portraits of Andrew and Heather; I learned that they haven’t had portraits together since their engagement 10 years ago! All this to say, we packed in a lot of meaningful shots in this family session and these are memories that will certainly be cherished for years to come!

Enjoy scrolling through some of my favorite photos and moments below!!
