I recently took family photos for this beautiful family with their dog, Moose, the corgi! When Pauline got in touch with me, she share with me the emotional journey they had with their dog, Moose, this year. In a nutshell, Moose fell twice and had to get two back surgeries, and they almost lost her. After a lot of hard work at rehab, she is amazingly walking again! With everything that has happened this year, they wanted to take photos to celebrate Moose and to have pictures of the three of them together that they can cherish for years to come!

The weather was crisp and cool the day of their session, and there were a lot of other families at NCMA with their dogs—it was like a party! When we started our photo shoot, I was amazed at how Pauline, Alex, and Moose were so natural and comfortable in front of the camera. Usually it takes about 10 minutes for most people to warm up, but they were SO relaxed and it totally shows in their photos!

Moose was also such a gentle and calm dog, and had the most adorable smile! Pauline taught me that if you say, “chicken,” Moose will turn her head towards you!! It was SO cute and worked every time! Also, when we were taking photos of just Pauline and Alex, Moose kept getting in their shots. We would place her next to me, but she will end up walking back towards them—it was hilarious! It’s so awesome when you get a client who can resonate with your work! Summer reached out to me to do a family photo shoot with her husband at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham. I remember chatting with her and learning that she’d like a casual photo shoot of the two of them that felt warm and intimate, but not make it feel like an engagement shoot. I also learned of their beautiful story! They met in a masters program in New York City in 2007, and became classmates and friends. They then reconnected in Chicago where Francesco was living in 2015 and Summer was visiting her brothers. Francesco went out to meet them, and well, the rest was history!

On the day of our shoot, we got a variety of shots around the Tobacco Campus. One of my favorite places was using the sidewalk that’s right outside the campus because it had a very Durham feel to it; the brick building in the background and the street gave their photo a mix of vintage and urban. I also LOVED using the brick wall and windows right outside the Power Plant! Their connection was so sweet and genuine, and they had the best smiles and laughs! There were SO many epic shots, and below are some highlights. Enjoy the photos and getting to know this wonderful couple!

Who remembers when the sunflowers were in bloom at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, NC? I remember there was a huge buzz a few weeks before they were in bloom, and know SO many people who were making plans to go see the sunflowers! Tiffany and Roy also chose to jump on the special opportunity to take photos with the sunflowers for their engagement photo shoot in Raleigh, and I'm SO glad they did! We had BEAUTIFUL LIGHT and the sunflowers were vibrant and in full bloom. It was truly a fun evening capturing this exciting new season for Roy and Tiffany, and getting to know the two of them better!

Roy is from a church here in Durham, NC and Tiffany is from a church in Ohio. They met when they both volunteered in a short-term mission trip to Taiwan in the summer of 2016, and taught English to elementary schools. Even though they didn't interact much during the trip, Roy reached out to a few Ohio team members afterwards to keep in touch, and that's when they began to chat...about everything!! They started dating in December 2016, and dated long-distance for the next year. In December of 2017, that's when Roy proposed to Tiffany!!

I absolutely loved capturing their interactions with each other--they truly have a way of making each other laugh and giggle! You'll also notice they wore matching beaded bracelets for the photo shoot, which was something they wore while they were dating! Isn't that so sweet?! I look forward to photographing and serving this beautiful couple on their wedding day!!
